Only a Moment ~ Kerri S Wilson

June 16, 2018

I found myself thinking, as I always do while washing dishes, and I noticed myself feeling anxious. I immediately wondered why I felt anxious. There was no cause for anxiety; it seemed random.

Then I suddenly realized I had been thinking about how often I fail to please people. My thoughts about my inadequacy had caused me to become anxious. As I considered further, I recognized that this happens to me often without me even noticing.

As I processed my thoughts, a song came to my mind and I started singing quietly. I sang these words:

My hallelujah belongs to you
My hallelujah belongs to you
My hallelujah belongs to you
My hallelujah belongs to you

You deserve it
You deserve it
You deserve it
You deserve it

Then I started singing this song:

When I think about the Lord
How He saved me
How He raised me
How he filled me with the Holy Ghost
How He healed me to the uttermost
When I think about the Lord
How He picked me up
And turned me around
How He placed my feet on solid ground

It makes me want to shout
Hallelujah
Thank you Jesus
Lord, you’re worthy
Of all of the glory
All of the honor
And all of the praise

In that moment I felt my anxiety change to reliance.

Jesus did say, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light,”
(Matthew 11:28-30, ESV).

It took only a moment for me to refocus and for my personal atmosphere to change.
