If I weren’t so human I could handle all of my struggles with finesse, which I’m sure would bring a lot of positive attention my way. Nevertheless, I’m human and full of weakness. Thankfully, God has my back no matter what I face and lets His strength be perfected in the middle of my weakness. That draws a lot of positive attention to Him, which is who attention should be on.
This scripture below has been foundational to my life over the past several years. As I was thinking about the Lord this morning, it came back to my mind.
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” ~Philippians 1:6
Final completion day will be when I stand in front of Him and hear Him tell me, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
When it comes to faithfulness, I have to be faithful to what He has asked of me, which can sometimes be the opposite of human expectation—including my own expectations of myself. It’s easy to be distracted by expectation, which requires more work on my part to stay submitted and aligned with God’s purpose.
Even so, His work in me continues until He completes it, and He is, right this minute, in the middle of completing what He started in me. God is good, strong, and faithful like that, and I have found so much faith building hope in God’s goodness, strength, and faithfulness.
If you have found yourself to be less than adequate in handling your season of struggle, be encouraged that He is still at work in your life and that He is who should shine through it all. Just stay submitted and faithful to Him.
