"Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning." ~Psalm 30:5, ESV
One of the most difficult struggles for me is maintaining hope in the midst of weeping. Seasons of sorrow, loss, disappointment, discouragement, or failure can seem to last forever. There have been times during my most challenging seasons when I have experienced moments when I haven't felt like having faith. It's in those moments when I have had to choose to have faith anyway.
I think choosing to have faith when believing is difficult is when faith matters the most. My choice to believe before there is evidence that things will ever change for the better is the truest measure of my faith. It is what defines my faithfulness. I think my faithfulness to faith in my hope in God has been the key to my overcoming the dark days I've experienced. It has been my source of strength when all of my own strength left me.
Overcoming isn't about how tall I stand after my season of struggle has passed, rather, it's about keeping my balance as I pass through the season. My faithfulness to faith in Him in the middle of my difficult circumstance is what has balanced me.
Uncertainty is what reveals my faith. Choosing faith through uncertain times is what makes me faithful. And my faithfulness to faith in Him is what let's me know I've passed the test before the test is even over.
