Upward Spirit; Cupped Heart ~ Kerri S Wilson

Have you ever noticed how flowers and leaves turn upward and cup themselves when it’s getting ready to rain? I witnessed this miracle of nature while relaxing on my patio this afternoon. The sky darkened, and my plants prepared themselves to receive. Amazed as ever by God’s creation, I sat and pondered the experience. And I considered these words of the psalmist. “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God,” (Psalm 42:1-2, ESV). Then I remembered and prayed this old gospel hymn written by Richard Blanchard. Fill my cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord Come and quench this thirsting in my soul Bread from heaven, feed me ‘til I want no more Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole The sky looks dark, but the gift of refreshing and nourishment lies within. I’m turning my spirit upward and cupping my heart in preparation.
