When God Seems Silent

God seems silent. He's really not. He's beckoning me with quietness. Like the prophet in the cave who was conditioned towards God's commanding nature, I've been conditioned towards God's directness. To hear God in a whisper was something new for the prophet—to hear God in the silence is something new for me. It's made me stop and listen. If I keep talking and moving, I'm afraid I'll miss what He's saying. God seems silent, but He's never silent. The other noise is just distracting. When God seems silent I've discovered I have to listen with more intention.
