God Sings

He reached out to her, and she reached up and put her hand in his on that rainy day as they walked across the parking lot. Then he started singing this song he made up for her instantly in that moment.
Walking in the rain
Me and my Jaelyn
We are so happy
To be walking in the rain
Walking in the rain
Me and my Jaelyn
We are so happy
To be walking in the rain
After he sang the song through a couple of times, Jaelyn joined in and sang with him. I have watched them walk hand-in-hand singing their song together on many rainy days since, and it is always a joy seeing my husband and our daughter engage in their lighthearted but deep love relationship.
Zephaniah prophesied what God's reaction would be to those who turn their hearts back to trusting in Him: "The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing" (Zephaniah 3:17, ESV).
Jesus told us how to turn our hearts back to Him. "And he said: 'Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven'" (Matthew 18:3, NIV).
Our relationship with Him begins when we turn to Him as dependent and trusting children. When we reach out to take His hand as He reaches down to us God begins to sing His loud song of joy over us. And if we keep holding on to Him, we eventually start singing, too. He is an amazing Father!
