A Work of Heart

I have titled this post the same as my website. I have intentionally played off of the familiar phrase "a work of art" by using the word heart in place of art. In doing this, I am saying two things. First, my writings are a work of art that come from my heart. While they are borne out of my creativity, they are also borne out of the abundance of my heart. Second, any abundance of good that comes from my heart is the result of His work of heart in me. His work in me is from His creative power and His heartfelt desire to make me into who He purposed me to be. I am sharing my work of heart as a work from His heart.
Jesus said in Luke 6:45, "The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks," (ESV).
My motto is, "A better world begins with me." I believe if I expect the world to change I must be willing to be the first to change. My purpose for writing is to share from the abundance of God's changing power that has occurred within me. I write out of the good treasure of my heart. The good treasure of my heart is the work of His heart He is working in me every day.
Jesus said in John 7:38, "Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water,'" (ESV).
You'll notice I refer to this scripture a lot. It is the foundation of His purpose I am pulled to fullfill. I believe as God changes me, He can use me to help facilitate change in others. No, it is not within me to change anyone. But I can point others to Him through the evidence of His work in me.
Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-39, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself," (ESV).
Love God and love others sums it up. It is the purpose of my existence. But how do I apply these commandments in my every day world? As I love God, He changes me. As I love others, His changes in me are seen by others. I live to please Him, and I live to point others to Him.
You'll find my posts cover two topics: testimonies of God's changing power in me and encouragement for you to embrace God's changing power for yourself. The message will always point back to loving God and loving others. That is where change begins.
I like to look back over what I've written. My writings are like my children. They are very dear to me because they are the work of my heart, and they all reveal the work of His heart.
I hope what I share always reveals Jesus and proves to be an encouragement to you.
