Only the Lonely

Loneliness—it's a killer. I think the worst thing about loneliness is its silence. We don't talk about being lonely. Neither are we apt to recognize loneliness in others. No one ever asks, "Are you lonely?" You are really alone when you're lonely.
Loneliness is defined by perspective of aloneness. Being alone may not make you feel lonely, but loneliness will always make you feel alone. You can be surrounded by people and be lonely and feel alone.
Most likely, we have all been lonely. I know I have been. David was lonely. He said, "Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted," (Psalm 25:16 ESV).
God wants us to be connected to one another and to Him. Genesis 2:18 says, "Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him,' (ESV). Revelation 3:20 says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me," (ESV).
I believe it pleases God when we intentionally connect with others. You may not be lonely, but you should consider those around you. Are they lonely? Many are though it doesn't show.
I'm asking the question no one will ask. Are you lonely? He is asking too, though He already knows the answer. If you are lonely, you no longer have to be.
